I have a few calves that I intend on selling when they get around 550-600 pounds. I have had several people ask me if I would have one butchered for them. They would be willing to pay considerable more than 1.00-1.10 per pound. These calves are straight out of the pasture . Wont there fat be yellow and there meat be tuff? Is there a practicle way to feed these calves something that will make them taste good. I would not want to sell these folks a bad tasting, tough animal.

Tuff? Nope.

Grass fed. I sell lots of it. Try it -you may never go back.

Grass fed beef is becoming popular in some circles. You might ask them if they've ever had it, because some people don't like it. The genetics of your animals will determine much of how tender and tasty the beef is whether it be grain-fed or not. I'd be just a little leary of grass fed if it had much Brahman influence.
