We even scrapped plans for a new ethanol plant and have shut down another because we all new it was not the way to go . The oil industry has put a huge amount of money into the state's general fund. Right now North Dakota has $ 1 Billion in the bank . That was money we didn't know was even coming ! I've been asked by my Represenative to sit in on Committee meetings to see what we as a state should do with the money. It's unreal the groups that have come forward with some of the strangest ideas and programs. Personally I'd like to see the property owners get a little break on their property taxes and after that lets see about funding college for our young adults. SO the high price of oil does have some good with the bad , but I'd agree there's more bad than good, and I also believe that we haven't seen bad yet.
