I was reading in a post where you said that we want you to get an education. I had to work through college without any help. I do not believe that we are responsible for your education. If a person gets a scholarship it is one thing. A low interest loan is one thing. A free ride just because you are to lazy to pay for it is another all together. There are people out there who actually need it but people like you is why I vote Bush. My best friend has MS and could get on disability but will not because she says that she can still work. I have alot of respect for her. This is not a personal attack but an attack on anybody who does this. I would rather see a Mexican cross the border and work his a$$ off than a free rider who could make it on his own but will not. Also there is nothing wrong with working at mcdonalds. I bet those people sleep pretty well at night knowing that they did their part in contributing to society.

I totally agree! I had to work side jobs to pay for college and get loans, which I am still paying on and will be for a while, but I will have paid for it with my hard earned money.

If you (anyone in general, no personal attacks here  ) can spend all the time you spend on the Internet then you can sort of type, so you could get some sort of desk job. Hey - you could be a greeter at WallyWorld. They always hire happy shiny people with great dispositions, and you don't have to have a big vocabulary either.

But seriously - I am really sick and tired of hearing how some individual is going to waste my hard earned tax money today  I can't believe someone is going to spend MY money on Internet access, an apartment, a car, and whatever else then have the gall to brag about it?! If I had my way all of this social security and welfare and all of the other bulls**t programs that the government uses to spend money would be terminated. I don't care if the lazy bums starve to death, it would be their own fault and the world would be a better place.

This is just my opinion though.

But its a good one, Sid!

BTW, good post C & C!

John Edwards was the first in his family to finish college..He said he worked his way through..that is something to be proud of...he got through college became a lawyer, senator and is on the ballot for vice president and possibly future president...But his message isn't do what I did...it's vote for me and I will GIVE you an education..they don't realize that you can't give someone something and expect it to amount to a hill of beans...it's what you earn that you appreciate..they just don't get it..or maybe they do and know the promises will bring votes from the ignorant and power to the dems...

I am one of the few in my family has gone (and completed) college...a few of my cousins finished school (a few went and dropped out...). But most of my relatives were dropouts or have an HS education. Many of them had to work from the ground up as most people did in those days. They also told me it was MUCH easier to find a job as today....

Ever heard of FAFSA? They give out government loans for college students and I have loans....... I have a few grants here and there but not much...most are on loan money.

PS I am going on a job interview in a couple days...never said I was a freeloader!

Anyway, good luck on your interview. Should we assume, given your demonstrated credibility, that your interview is with the Kerry/Edwards Campaign?

I hate governments handouts. I had to sit in line today in the grocery store behind a couple of nonswimming democrats while they tried to buy nonWIC items with their WIC voucher and tried to argue with the cashier about it. The CRP is another government handout that I hate becasue it is nothing but a form of corporate welfare for the paper companies because it is nothing but a government subsidy that caused an over supply of pine pulp which in turn benefited the paper companies through lower stumpage prices. I say strip government back to the bare minimum and let evolution play its course.

AMEN! Bureauacracy is killing us! Talk about government hand outs, the first hand out is from the self serving bureaucrats. IMHO, until we curb the appetite of that monster, we'll be lucky to maintain the status quo, regardless of the outcome of the election in November.

I agree with all of you 100% on hating government handouts, but as our current socialist system stands it is probably cheaper to send a welfare check than to employee some of these people. Some of them suffer from such a minute mental capacity that they are virtually unemployable and would lower productivity to a point that wefare would be cheaper. Until natural selection is allowed to run it's course......

The thing to remember is that by definition 1/2 of the people are below average

I've long held to the theory that at this point in time, human evolution is going in reverse, the unambitious unemployed are popping out kids at an enormous rate while hardworking people are limiting themselves to one or two children. The final result is that there will be a lot more lazy, poorly educated people and alot fewer hardworking, ambitious, people to carry them.

Yes, the welfare state is against nature and it propagates inferior genes.
