We had a little blow and go show today... Barry County Fair. Kids took 10 head total, 8 heifers and two bull calves. They ended up capturing Supreme Champion Female (a percentage Upgrade x Product May '14 heifer), Champion Simmental Heifer (Movin Forwardx Grandmaster May '14 heifer), Reserve Champion Simmental heifer (a March '15, so 90 days old, Steel Force x Fat Butt), Supreme Champion Bull (an October '14 Upgrade bull), Grand Champion Crossbred Bull (A Built Right x Macho half blood, Jan '15 born), and our middle daughter won Champion Junior Showman. Not a bad day...

We also had a really great Regional Show (American Junior Simmental Regional Classic), the first week of this month. There were 120 plus junior members from 12 states that competed with over 200 head of Simmental cattle. Our oldest daughter ended up with 10th place Bred and Owned heifer, overall. The other heifers all placed in the top of their classes. The kids also competed in Sales Talk, Public Speaking, Cattlemen's Quiz, Livestock Judging, and Showmanship. Below is a picture with their winnings (they did super)! Both girls placed - middle child, Rachel, was 6th overall in the junior division and my oldest, Rebekah, was 4th overall in the senior division. ... We are blessed!

Sales Talk is a contest where the kids have to sell their heifer to the judge. This teaches them to learn about important traits the heifer has that would work in the "buyer's" program. They need to know the industry, the pedigree of the heifer, the EPD's, and how the heifer will work for that person's program. It has taught my kids a lot about how to market their product!

Our oldest daughter in showmanship. She is also a Select Sires Rep (has been AI'ing cows since she was 13, so 5 years now), and a Trustee for the American Junior Simmental Association...

Our family vacation every year is at the National Classis, we have been to many states we would have not normally visited with these classics! If anyone wants to meet up, we will be in College Station, TX from the 5th of July through the week until the following Saturday. We would love to meet any of you! In fact, last year that is where I meet Inyiti for the first time!!! :tiphat:

Good achievements earned through hard work, congratulations to them & you. 10 head -- they kept busy!
