One important thing to remember is that no matter how well you train them you still must keep a watchful eye. They are kids and think they are invincible.
A young lady here last year got drug to her death. She wrapped a lead rope around her waste. Something her parents thought they had taught her never to do. The horse spooked and the rest is history.

Thanks Caustic, it is easy to get complacent around dangerous
things (animals and equipmnet) after spending time and not having anything bad happen. Good reminder.

That's a good article CB , it's never too soon to teach safety to kids, our county farm buruea puts on a Farm Safety Day Camp every year in april . I hope to take my grandchildren sometime but they are all out of state at the moment. I've never been there but I hear it's pretty good. It is held at a local farm. It lasts all day and the womens committee has lunch for the kids.
