We've tried just about everything over the last 30 years, but nothing can beat the Gelbvieh for gentleness, calf vigor, selling price at the sale barn, etc, etc. Strongly recommed them. Only problem was birth weight/calving ease. Some of the earlier Gelbvieh had gestastion periods of up to 2 weeks longer than Angus. After 10 years of exclusively breeding Gelbvieh (commercial herd) we have solved the calving ease problem and couldn't be happier with them.
