We're having some trouble with an old baler we bought last year. It worked great last year, on grass hay. This year, my husband is trying to bale up a little field of oats with it, and it just will not bale. He gets started, and it just starts winding around and twisting the belts. Any ideas ? thanks.

First thought that comes to mind is the hay is tough or not dry enough, but I have no experience with Gehl balers. Sometimes a short crop can cause problems also.

On those older balers, when the belts twist the hay is being fed in a clump which cause the belt to roll. Need to have the winrow wide enough to feed the entire baler to help eliminate the clumping and twisting.

It could also be not dry enough to.
