The motor sputters to a stop when the mower deck is engaged. Seams to run fine other wise.
Though it did seem to be down on power prior to this. Tractor is five years old.

Have you checked the air filter? May need a good cleaning. This is obvious but I'll ask anyhow; do you have the rpms revved up before engaging the blade. Also check to make sure all belt pulleys are turning freely and not heating up. Possibly a bearing going bad but usually you will hear or smell something if that is the case.

This is a Craftsman Garden Tractor. Aways wideopen to engage the blades.
I've hade the deck off twice, can't see or feel any thing wrong.

Are you certain that you have the belt routed correctly? It could be pressing on a bracket or something when you engage it.

Granny, you maybe onto something since he's had the housing off a couple of time. May have the belt on the wrong side of a belt guide.
