i wish there was an easy way to answer this, but there isnt. Pretty much, there is a lot of Holly Hills influence along with some older Wehrman bloodlines along with some others we have picked up and made along the way.

i will make a sample list and you can look through it if you like.

At the top of the print out between Herd ID and Sire Name Is Birth Date. This would be the date that each was born.

Are those heifers scan data?

If they are, are they all in your show string? It seems like they would be pretty fleshy, at least from what we are used to.

Our bulls would be indexing at 100 with .25 for rib fat, rump fat pretty much the same.

Our heifers would be around.15-.2.

I thought they were fleshy enough.

What is an adj scan weight?

everything related to ultrasound is adjusted to a 365 day predicted value. this the only way they can be compared accurately. so an oversimplification would be:

we dont raise any show animals. we sell registered Angus to breeders and producers.
  • weight at time of scan X 365 / actual age in days at scan.

ex 900 lbs @ 380 days old when scanned would be
    900 X 365 /380 = 864.5 lb Adj Scan Wt

We scan our heifers and they have never shown us an adj scan weight so that is why I asked.

I figured there must be some sort of formula, but though it would have more to do with the scan data (marbling, REA and %RP) rather than having an adj scan weight.

Adj something or other seem to be the way nowadays.

Why all the flesh on the heifers?
Better asked.......what kind of ration are they are on to achieve rib and rump fat levels?

We sell to reg. breeders as well and would get shot on the spot with that much rig on the cattle.

they have free choice hay (and grass) and are hand fed soyhulls and peanuts daily.

our customers seem to like what we sell.
