When I went to bed last night the death toll was stated to be 51. This morning at 5 the media was saying 91. Now they are saying there were 15 adults and 9 children. TOO MANY!!!

They are saying the reason the toll was wrong is because victims were "counted twice". So how do you multiply 24 by 2 and come up with 51 or 91?

Looking at that tragic devastation it is amazing that the toll isn't much worse.

Many lives have been lost in the past 7 days. Steel bands in walls make home 6 times stronger. When you frame one out, get those bands that come around lumber bundles and run them diagonal across the walls. Put a screw in every stud. Lumber yards hate the bands and will beg you to take them. They have to pick them up. The bands go under your Sheetrock with no problems. Put fire blocking in your walls. Now your home is 6 times as strong. Lag bolt your joists. Less than $100 spent on your $200,000 house. More importantly, it may save a life - yours or your family. Contractors do not take the time. Watch them stick frame a house and toe nail in the studs. They ought to be shot.

One hundred percent correct boogie. Simple small things will make a house so much stronger. If you live in an area where basements will not work, you need a safe room, preferably surrounded by poured concrete walls and ceiling.
