I don't mean to take anything away from the PA's because I know they have to go through a lot of schooling and stuff but the bottom line is they are not doctors. Granted there are some sorry doctors out there as well.

I scheduled a checkup recently and they told me I would have to wait an extra 3 months if I wanted to see the doctor but I could see the PA then next week. Nothing but a checkup so I saw the PA. Turned out to be a good looking young lady who seemed to really know her stuff. She asked to check my prostrate. I had to decline. Left the doctor's office with more questions about myself than I had when I entered. Was wondering if I would have let my doctor check my prostrate. Was thinking I probably would have reluctantly agreed. Then I was perplexed by the thought of why I would refuse to let a good looking lady check my prostrate while possibly letting an ugly man do it. Shyt, with these questions running through my head I think I'll just stop going to the doctor because I don't need this kind of shyt running through my head the voices are bad enough. ;-)

I'll bet she has smaller hands too. :lol2:

As a CPR trainer I get to see a bunch of the people going into nursing school all I can say is Lord help us. I also train doctors and nurse who have already been practicing and I run across a few who good luck if your life is in their hands. Healthcare quality is dropping like a brick. There are still a lot of good ones out there but a lot are tired of the BS and are retiring as soon as possible. When my wife had her accident back in December she was taken to a local hospital and I wouldn't trust the quacks who work there an further than I could throw my bull. They couldn't even decide what to do with her broken foot and couldn't manage her pain. We got her out of there and down to Houston. I hate Houston but they do have some of the best doctors in the world in the medical center.

Only reason my daughter is alive today is Texas Childrens. Amazing what they are capable of.

Yes the doctors, nurses, and staff at TC are amazing. I have heard lots of stories about children they have saved and I know a few of the kids or parents.

I was required to have an annual physical. Which included palpation of the entire scrotum and testes for tumors and rupture and palpation of the prostate(not prostrate, common mistake, But vastly different meaning). The Doctor was different each year under contract services. On occasions the Doctor was female. You soon get to where it just don't matter.

I don't see a doctor to often. In my limited experience I believe I've been more satisfied with the nurse practitioner, than the doctors. Seemed more thorough , caring and cut less corners than the arrogant doctors with God complexes. That barely take the time to break stride.
Sidenote, I have a friend who is a doctor, sold his practice and bought a construction company. He was tired of having to argue and negotiate with the insurance companies to get paid.

Is a train coming down the track? Healthcare is the nightmare on main street. There are no leadership capabilities in Washington that can tackle it.

PS: Doctors are going to continue leaving the profession.

Until 2009 I thought that I was relatively healthy. On June 10 that year, heart attack, cardiac arrest, resuscitation, stents, etc., changed my perspective on life. Since then Oct '11, spinal fracture with resulting diagnosis of diffuse osteoporosis, kinda put my life in "take care mode". All my MD use PA's, and after they do all the diagnostic and workup, I see the Dr for few minutes. I can't argue with that, however, with 40 years as DVM, I know a large number of local MD in all specialties, and have most cell numbers. So my experience is not routine for most.
Prior to Obamacare, even before qualified for Medicare, had good insurance, paid any and every MD, expensive but worked. Now supplement, 1/2 total 10 yrs ago and pays minimal. I hear of all the uninsured that now have insurance. In the people I know, know total of three (3) that this allowed to have insurance. Socialized medicine does not work, why were top earning MD in US 2000-2012 along US/Canada border ??
My opinion, and that only, Your best MD's, Pa's etc are not going to be @ Your local Urgent care, they are going to be at Your local/regional hospital. I would still go there in emergency and expect quality care, but would only consider it an immediate /stop gap measure. I would have checked further.
My Opinion, cost me three minutes, You Nothing!!!!

I used to put a low priority on health care so I usually saw whoever was most available. Either a PA, or a MD who had English as a second language. I liked the PAs better, until, there were multiple missed diagnosis and I had to start over with three different specialists. The bitch getting to there was the referrals.

So the pay per visit future is getting to someone good enough to make the right referrals before things get really bad.

I got jerked around for a year and half.
I was fixing to go through the ER at Herman or M.D. Anderson in Houston.
Kept digging and researching until I got to the right specialist.
I only lost 60 pounds during the journey.
And the horror is I have kick butt insurance can walk in anywhere and it pays.
The poor guy without any doesn't stand a chance.
It can't stand to be fixed much more.
