Freeze branding

Help Support CattleToday:

Here is some updated photos. These are about 3 weeks post branding.
This first one is on a yearling heifer. I like the size here.

This next one is the brand that slipped past the clip line. I am waiting to see if the hair will change to white where she was not clipped, but looking at the brand now, I doubt it!

This last is of a cow that is burn branded on her ribs. It is an S with what looks like and arrow (The Herring Angus ranch in Wyoming is where she came from). You can hardly see it most times of the year. I like the visibility of the freeze brand better. This cow will be branded with our brand this fall when we vaccinate and work the cows.

Thanks for this thread. I would like to see more photos as time goes by.

I purchased a freeze brand for my cattle but have not used it yet because of lack of information on how to do it properly and also lack of dry ice or liquid nitrogen within a few hours drive.

The information has helped me put getting the cattle branded back on my to-do list.

I am a bit daunted by the time it is likely to take to do 150 head.
