Arnold, a little more amplification might help when it comes to our position of BW and calving ease. The calving ease of a 1200 lb heifer is different then that from a 900 lb heifer. We have smaller framed cows and obviously heifers because that's what works with out forage base. The majority of them only mature around 1100 lbs and frequently closer to 1000. That substanstialy decreases the size of the desired calf even for mature cows. It's back to knowing your herd and your requirements.
As a side note, there are darn few cows that can wean a 700-750 lb calf. That's what is needed with those 1400-1500 lb cows.
