Ford 3600 injection pump leaking

Help Support CattleToday:

Here are some pictures of a 3600 pump I have showing how it is mounted on top of the shaft.. I didn't have this right on this pump a few years ago and could not get the tractor started until I got it right. I learned from my mistake and have not let it happen again.

@jltrent, You have some dust on the pump, you are going to have to clean and wax it.

Success! So I went back out to the shop. Pulled that cap off and moved my throttle spring from the middle hole back to the first hole and assembled. Cracked the back injector by steering wheel. Started right up. Tighten everything down. Still leaks, but I didn't expect the gasket to hold up being abused 20 different times so I'm fine with it. Cows got fed and it's not leaking like it was. It runs different than before. Usually it'll be good in low in 3rd but now it'll bog while under load, but how it use to drive in 3rd is how it drives in 4th now. But that I can live with. It also now dies if I push the throttle all the way up. But I was thinking of just setting the set screw to accommodate how it is now. It runs and drives great

Ken, was your tractor a Ford? On a Ford there is not any way of hooking it up backwards.
Kenny, no it is a Chamberlain with a Perkins and CAV pump. I don't remember the exact details of what I did wrong but was alluding to the idea that something simple was not assembled right and it seems once he had a good look at things and put it right it started.
I do remember about those 3 holes now it was mentioned.

I understand that for sure. I just dont know how to do it wrong on a Ford.

It's the same on the Leyland I had. Those little Perkins are hard to beat.

I think the lesson here is to pay attention to the youtube videos before you do something like this for the 1st time and to take lots of photos disassembling.
