Been raining fairly steady here since late last night--nothing hard, just a slow steady drizzle or light rain. Looks to be clearing now tho, which is ok with me--any more and it would just run off.

We need runoff just as much as we need a good soaking.

Oh yeah--many times. The surface soil is just floating--drive here--you only sink a little but it goes up all around.
I broke thru it back in '07 with a backhoe trying to do someone a favor in an area I knew was just a little clay on top of saturated sugar sand. Took two tractors, lots of chains plus me using the FEL bucket pushing and backhoe bucket pulling on a cable to get out, and it took about 50 yards of travel to get back up on top. I parked it for the rest of the year.

That used to be the norm in my creek bottom pastures. You got one pass over a piece of ground with the tractor. Come back in the same tracks you better have a bigger tractor and a lot of chain.

Lots of people cut hay yesterday and most got it rained on twice. Even though there is no chance of rain today the clouds sure look like rain makers to me.

Sorry Jogee....but you know, every day some of us are praying for it to rain.....I guess some of us aren't being specific enough as to where. Still, I'm glad to know that my prayers ARE being answered......

I was tempted to cut some yesterday but they are calling for rain again this weekend and if everything didn't go perfect I'd be in a bind. Of course now that I didn't cut it probably will not rain till next week sometime.
