Food trends?

Seems like the low fat craze really took off in the mid -70's. It also appears that the obesity epidemic started then too and has accelerated as fat consumption has decreased. Is this my imagination?

Sorry I am late to this party, but I just wanted to add that the "fat is bad for you" studies in the 60's were funded by guess who..... the sugar industry.
