first thing every morning

Help Support CattleToday:

Ours leave their rodent trophies on the step and want fed.
Mine brings them in the house and then proceeds to eat it and make a mess... at least it is usually on the linoleum in the bathroom... it's been moles/voles mostly... they brought in a mouse and let it loose and I thought I'd kill them... but a little bit later they had it again... and I scooted them out the door.

You must still be relatively young because that sure ain't the first thing going on here every morning.. and the 2nd thing is ALWAYS.........coffee.

Worst thing one of our 2 cats brought up to the front door and dropped it right on the doormat, was a baby bunny, barely still kickin, what little hair it still had was all bloody and 'stuff' hangin out, just as all my extended family were showing up one Thanksgiving. They just stepped over it and no one told me about it for about an hour..

Regarding the bunny, that is awful. My dogs used to chase and eat them, a sight I could not stand especially when they would squeal. Thank goodness the mommas caught on, and not have their babies close to the house.

How about a big bunny? Smokey is one of the garage cats and a prolific hunter. Huge rats, squirrels, rabbits, one time a duck and another time he brought in a coot. And it's not like I don't feed these cats dry AND canned cat food.

He brought you a present because he thinks you are a bad hunter. He has to take care of his people.

First thing here is make coffee.
Second thing is milk the cow (cream for coffee).

I do not care for cats. They torture small creatures before killing them. If the owner suddenly became very small they would do the same. Your dog would just look at you and tilt head from side to side.

I guess we can round up all the mice and drop them off at your place?

They can torture all the mice and rats and chipmunks they want as long as they are dead when they get done. I live in a 100+ yr old house and have more than my share of mice coming in. Tired of them into things in the house... including some of my bureau drawers on occasion. I was THRILLED to get the kittens that have grown into mousers. I also use traps and sticky papers to keep the populations down.
An mine get fed dry and canned cat food also.

We use One Bite bait bars. Wipes out the entire population from barn (they can't get into our house) or destroy our truck engines wires. We make capped upside down T shaped bait feeders out of pvc pipe with a wire strung down down the middle and thread the bait bars onto these. Continuous all you can eat rodent restaurant open 24 hours a day. Chickens and dog can't get to it either.

I'm trying to picture how you set this up. Bar across bottom (open on both ends), with center bar standing up (top has cap with string hanging holding bait. How do you keep them in this position?

They say if you have snakes you won't have mice. But if you have mice then you don't have any snakes. This year we are over run with mice and I haven't killed a single rattler on my property this year. I think I prefer the mice. I find dead mice by the barn or on the lawn daily. Two dogs and two cats who are killing mice real regularly. The dogs are out in the field hunting mice for hours every day. Rat poison in the barn and shop getting some. There is a young coyote which I haven't shot because he is always hunting mice. Hawks and owls patrolling my fields all the time. No mice in the house so far.
