I want to thank you again for posting the pics of the cows getting ready to calf. Mine are looking just like that. I checked them yesterday and they are all hanging out in the shady thickets. It was a full moon last night and for some reason I feel there are calves back there now. I can't wait to get offf work and go check. They are all 1st time heifers but all weigh around 1100 lbs and bred to a bull about the same. I hope all goes well.

Yes let us know how things went & if the full moon had any influence.

I have a cow past due (was due on Sun 5/22) & she still hasn't calved (so no help from the full moon here). Think I remember a John Stosel (sp) report on myths & that was one of them, although I have heard it all my life (influencing all kinds of behaviors).

No luck as of yesterday afternoon. I'm new to the calfing thing but moons and storms, bad weather and stuff like that seem to play a major part in horses foaling. i do know enough to say that the fruit don't fall till it's ripe. I wish I had written down the dates when my nieghbors bull got with the hiefers. I'm just really anxious as these will be my first calves.
