HELLO,

I WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE TO PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!

ABOUT 30 SOME ODD YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER LIVING ON A RANCH IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE, THE RANCH HAD IT'S OWN SMALL FEEDLOT. WE PREPPED THE STEERS FOR THE FEEDLOT BY FEEDING THEM SOME SORT OF PLASTIC PELLETS FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. THEN WE PUT THEM IN THE FEEDLOT AND FED THEM NOTHING BUT GROUND GRAIN (MILO I THINK). THE PELLETS DID AWAY WITH THEIR NEED FOR ANY KIND OF ROUGHAGE (COATING ONE OF THEIR STOMACHES I WAS TOLD) UNTIL THEY WERE READY TO BUTCHER. THIS METHOD PRODUCED THE BEST MARBLED BEEF I HAVE EVER HAD. I HAVE ASKED MANY PEOPLE OVER THE YEARS IF THEY EVER HEARD OF THIS, AND NO ONE HAS. I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THIS ON A FEEDER CALF NOW, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE STUFF IS CALLED OR IF IT IS EVEN STILL AVAILABLE. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS, MIKE

I think I remember an article years ago in probably farm journal or sucessful frmng, (those were the subscriptions laying around the house when I was in high school, '68-72) University research idea, it even said the pellets were reusable!
