What is the feed requirements for a group of Holstein steers (350-750lbs) on full feed with a Smidley steer stuffer? How much forage do they need in their diet? Do I need to buy my supplement or can I create my own and save money? When I fed steers out last summer I ran a protein supplement from Famo Feeds. Just looking for a few answers before I buy a group of steers for the spring.

Thanks in advance.

No forage, 200lbs pellets (we used sirloin builder) mixed with 1800lbs whole kernel corn. For minerals, get a mineral tub designed for feedlots. They shouldn't bloat, but I would check them daily for at least 15 minutes just to make sure. During the heat of the day is when they are more likely to bloat in my experience.
