Feeding Barley

We currently have been mixing the barley in with the corn. To make our batches last a bit longer, we want to switch to the batch being corn and mineral mix. Would topdressing the barley or handmixing still have the same benefit with having gone through the hammermill? Our feed is ground by a custom grinder and we need to look into not having come as often.

Did you ever think getting your own grinder , I got a real good one at a sale last summer for $600 , it works real good, if you watch the sales you can some times find a good one cheap, It's really handy when you can grind when you want to. Where are you at in eastern Pa.?

I was thinking about that as auction season is getting into full swing. I am near Reading, PA. How bout you?
