Hello fellow Cattle Board bloggers. I recently heard a statistic from northwest beef producer that indicated on their feedlots they lose nearly 30% of the feed they put out for their cattle. I am curious if any reading this blog with experience working particularly with feeding cattle using a feed truck like the one pictured below experience significant issues with waste of feed (IE feed missing the trough). If you do have this kind of issue or you are aware of I am trying to get an idea from other feeders as to what they are doing to fix this problem. Please let me know your thoughts!

Move a bit closer to the trough or put an extension on the discharge chute. Feeding like that usually has almost no waste.

they waste a lot under their feet, some has to be removed from the feeders if over fed. in summer some will turn sour before they eat it all

Use J-bunks, put a roof over it, and be able to read the feed pan helps a lot, but the roof doesn't always work out on paper.
