I have three heffers that are 11 months old. I feed then around a one pound coffee can of feed each along with 1 and 1/2 bales of hay a day for all three. Am I giving them enought to eat, hay? They always act like they are hungry.
Let's assume your square bales weigh 60 lbs each, so 1 1/2 bales would be 90 lbs a day, or 30 lbs per heifer. I would say that is plenty of hay. Are they also on pasture, or do your have them penned up?
