We have over 100 different varieties. Wife has rheumatoid arthritis in her hands and since I fractured my back 4 years ago we don't keep them as clean as we use to. Plastic ones would be easier !I just spent a ridiculous amount of money on fake ones. But they look real![]()
My wife is the yellow and pink person, I like the orange and burgundy ones . There are no whites , blues , or true reds in daylillies .They look great. I really like the peach colored one!
No we never did . I know some folks they did/ do . Older gentleman in Chattanooga did 100's . He was a big baseball fan , so he gave all of his baseball names . Strikeout , home run , etc . I have a couple. The only one I can think of this second is Catchers mitt .Do you ever propagate your own from ''sports'' growing on your own plants?
Logan , that's what I like about the daylillies. I've only ever lost 2 that we planted . They come back every year and are low maintenance for the most part . We use to sell them ; my wife's hobby . Probably more than paid for what ever we spent on them .I garden on the cheap. Our yard is filled with daffodils, day lilies, peonies and iris dug up for free from old family home sites. They come back every year and some go back at least six generations to some of my great grandmothers and are enjoyed by my grand kids. I never did keep them as free of weeds as I should. Once I was too busy, now I am too old.
These old varieties are not as colorful and vibrant as the newer ones, but definitely more care free.
