Favorite Holiday Traditions

We allow the children to open their presents at midnight on Christmas, allow for an hour or so of play and family-time. then everyone goes to bed, well rested for Christmas day.

I would love to hear about your favorite holiday traditions -

Do you open gifts up on Christmas Eve? Do you not wrap any presents on Christmas Eve? Enjoy Blackeye peas and collard greens on New Year's...

Let's share and get to know each other more.
Mine is deffintlly watching the kids open gifts on Chrismas day, it brings back so many memories of when I was a kid.

This year, im we are having family over to my house to have christmas eve dinner, then christmas day dinner at my aunts, working from the 28th - 8th for my local dairy for morning, afternoon, and evening shifts

Wife and I will say Merry Christmas to each other in the morning. Then just carry on like any other day. Maybe cook a roast or something special for dinner. Closest of our kids is 4 hours and some tall mountains away. We don't travel that direction this time of the year. A couple of them will phone us on Christmas. I was just informed that there is a turkey in the freezer that will be Christmas dinner.

My husbands family has Danish origins, and they have a tradition called Little Christmas Eve. Basically they have an open invite to friends and family to come eat, drink and celebrate together on the 23 of Dec. everyone brings food/drink and has a good time

Hello all, and thanks for the welcome CT. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. NW Ohio farmers for a number of generations and Dad was just getting started on his own first farm when I was 3 or so. I remember my first trip to see our future home... So much to explore and barely 4. Grandpa had already got me my first gun.. lever action Daisy BB.. Wasn't long before Dad got me a single shot .410 Savage. Thanksgiving morning he suprized me with hurry up... Get your chores done... Dress warm.. get your gun and your shot shells. Oh! Became a tradition every Thanksgiving Morning. For a long time. Even after acquiring 4 more farms, when we had so much work to do. Didn't know how we would ever get it all done. 🥹

I enjoy both Thanksgiving and Christmas about the same, it is our time to get together with as much of the family as possible, all of our elders have passed on now so everyone comes to our place, lots of grandbabies and such, good food & good times here at our little ranch. New Years is always Black eye peas, ill pass on the collard greens though ;)
