Farmer Wants a Wife

I was walking down a logging road in SE Alaska headed back toward the camp. There was a black bear headed the other direction coming up the road. I started throwing rocks at him to get him off the road. Missed a number of times. Finally hit him in the foot. He looked at his foot and then at me. He walked off the road and sat there with a look on his face that said you didn't have to hit me with a rock. I walked by on the other side of the road.

No worries, we broke up. It turned out that girl I dated was bipolar. Other than that I think we would be together still. She was everything my ex wife never was.
Bipolar people are often very intelligent. A great many well known and famous people are bipolar. Unmanaged and denial can and does lead to disaster at times. Other times it can actually be an asset. Management is the key.

There are good medicines for bipolar.
She did not take anything for it because she said she didn't like the way the medications made her feel. She told me that knowing how she reacted with the disorder she didn't want to hurt me. She knew what my ex wife had put me though. It was best for both of us for her to walk away.

Probably more than biolar going on here, sorry.
When you get to a certain age the good one's are taken. This applies to both men and women. Best to just be yourself and don't search. When you come across one you will know.
I'm not really looking, but I am keeping an eye out. At the moment I am enjoying the peace of being single.

That is unfortunate. Medication is not the only way to treat it, but it can be a component of a multi-pronged approach. Counseling or therapy can/should be a component of treatment as well. A note about the medications. There is a host of medications that can be utilized. Many of the medications work in essentially the same way, but there are some medications that work quite differently. It is a credit to her, and an indication of her intelligence, that she recognizes and is aware of what her bipolar can produce, and an indication that she cares for you and does not want to hurt you.

Yes, she is a wonderful woman, and there will always be a special place in my heart for her.

Bipolars often get addicted to the highs and often don't want to level out. It's the depressive stage when they want to kill them selves, not fun for anybody. https://www.healthline.com/health/bipolar-disorder/bipolar-1-vs-bipolar-2#treatment
I'm a nurse and believe me you did not want to be assigned a bipolar manic patient

My mother was bipolar. She was a wonderful fun creative mother but other times just sat alone in a darkened room and ended up in a mental hospital. What helped her was quetiapine fumerate. She said it did not make her feel weird but I wish she had been diagnosed sooner.

One big no for me is any sort of mind altering drug. Going on and off drugs or medications change who you are and alter what you find repulsive in a partner. I also believe that in many cases people are better off forgoing quick fixes with drugs and learning to handle things.

I was a horse woman all my life. Not 'that kind' but one who rode cross country long distance over the hills to be alone and get away from people. The soul mate of my life we met riding in his hay field in 1980. A loner cattleman who knew more about horse that I did. Been friends since 1980. Married in 2016. He comes out, watches and quietly tells me how to train the horse I have now.
You sure waited long enough 36 years. Glad you found somebody

Other relationships made me appreciate my friend a lot more. I was shocked when a 68 year old never married cowboy asked me to marry him. Do you know how rare that it? Cowboys usually shy away from the double harness.

@StrojanHerefords I gotta ask how old a feller are you and what age future wife are you hunting up?
I'm much too young to feel this damn old (mid-thirties). When I am ready, I want to hit the ground running with a wife that is ready and prepared to have a mess of kids. (mid-twenties) For our future, we good replacements like begets like. It is no wonder that so many people in the younger generations can't remember basic tasks and are allergic to latex.
