Farm Diesel Storage

Help Support CattleToday:

It's been awhile, how are you liking the new setup?
I like it so far. Very nice setup but not as easy to load with the bale bed as I had hoped. Easy to load and unload with the tractor though. Having the fuel gauge might might be the best part. Lol

We are about to get one. We found some used one priced higher than a new one. If your in our area I'll tell you were to get a new one.

If you were redoing your farm diesel storage setup, what route would you go down currently? Let's assume something in the 250-500 gallon range, more or less.

Anyone used a plastic/synthetic tank for diesel storage?

Thanks.

Personally my farm tanks are 500 and 300 sit out like jltrents. I at a minimum would use a old 275 gallon kerosene tank like what was used for furnaces. It's easy set up

I have a few spare tanks

3 250 gal steel tanks. Been around since the 60s. Took the one off the stand in 2006 and put a pump on it. Run it off the tractor battery. I was using over 1000 gallons a year back then, now it's closer to 250 a year. Minimum delivery is 500 gal. so only use 2. I let the gravity tank drain into the tank with the pump when filling the tractor. Someday I might take it off the stand and plumb the two together but it probably won't happen till I'm told they won't fill tanks on stands anymore. ... 100_4914.JPG

Lol..wish it still looked like that. Those corner post are the sorriest I've ever seen. Rotted off years ago.

A properly built fence ( no wood ) it doesn't make a squat what side the wire, or the cows are on.

When cattle will be on one side such as a fence that borders a road we always put the wire on the interior side. However I have more cross fences than most people I know and rarely have a cow push a wire off a post. People around here will always question why you put the wire on the exterior side though.

Ordered a DT200 with the 13gpm pump from LeeAgra last week. Looks like a good setup and can be loaded on a pick up while full of fuel. Hopefully it'll do the trick and make things easier.

How do you like this? That would be the perfect set-up for here.

I like it allot. Works really well for what I do. Seems like it'll last a lifetime and stay looking nice. I've got it on the carport now since I've been doing stuff close to the house and it's not an eye sore. Being able to load or unload full with a couple straps was the main deal for me.

I have four of these that are 5 Gallons each.
