F-1 Definition

Help Support CattleToday:

F1 is first cross. Mostly referred to as Brahman X Herefords or
Brahman X Angus, but it is any first cross between two different
breeds.

Maybe in your part of the world it primarily means something with Brahman, but in the rest of the world it means simply a first generation cross between two pure breeds. I doubt if Brahman has much influence on various F1 plant hybrids. Although Brahman is considered a pure breed it is actaully a composite developed in the US from multiple Bos Indicus breeds.

LA4 is right in Southern areas because the F1 Brahman/Hereford is so widely used. It just became a generic term for them and it's quicker and easier to say.
