hello there, i hope someone can help me here.we have a jersey cow 8yrs old. we have had her 2 years ,but this is our first calf, even though its not her 1st calf. her bag has been getting larger and is slightly swolden.she has some discharge dripping out of her private parts.she is due any day. 2 days ago she had what looked like contractions and was laying down, and she pushed alittle, this only lasted about 15 minites. sense then she has been walking around and eating hay, and has not tried to have it sense. is there any thing that i should be alarmed about or is this ok.. she was bred to a young limosine bull.any sugestions would be nice.. thanks bigtex

Welcome to the Boards, bigtex! You haven't described anything in your post that would alarm me. Things may be different by this morning, however, so just keep your eye on her and keep us updated if there's no progress. If you're really concerned, its best to call your vet.......

Everything you described seems normal but if it's a small jersey cow bred to a limo bull if you don't know the calf size or calving ease of that bull you might want to try to be around just in case she would need a little help

she is a larger jersey cow about 875 lbs.so far no calf yet. she is still grazing and eating hay. she seem to feel ok.. she doesnt seem nervous but we are!!!!!!! lol.. i'll keep posting any new results.. thanks for any tips..

as long as it is mucus it is o.k., i guess they get uncomfortable toward the end. i have watched a few and wondered if it is time. when it is time she will be very nervous and try to be alone. i can tell by the look in thier eyes.
