Alfyou aint got enough sense to reply to. But maybe I don' either. You ain't got the sense that god give billary clinton or John Fairy, But maybe you already got one of them. Happy honeymooning.

LA, putting all the candidate bashing / harsh feelings for Kerry aside, just what has Bush done to impress you so much that you think he deserves 4 more yrs in office? I am neither democrat/republican/liberal. and for the record, I voted for Bush in 2000, because I felt he was a much better candidate than Gore was, but what has he done the last 4 yrs to deserve my vote again? He cant run a business, we are at an all time high national debt, he is stepping all over human / constitutional rights, interest rates are at an all time low, unemployment is skyrocketing, he spends very little time running the country, most weekends he is off either at his ranch or at some retreat. Dick Chaney, do you think what he is getting away with is ethical? Do you want 4 more yrs like the last 4?

Fill me in, am I missing something great Bush has done? I am not dead set against Bush, but I dont want 4 more yrs like the last 4! Convince me that Bush is the man to lead us out of this recession and he has my vote.

In some cases you just have to hold your nose and pull the lever. My late great father alwasy said he wished that some day he could vote for someone instead of against someone. He never did. But he insured that he voted in every election.

I think Bush has done as well as he could have under the circumstances. I don't think he had a choice about doing a counter attack on Afghanistan and starting a war in the whole middle east. If he had sat on his laurels and done nothing, I almost guarantee there would have been more attacks. Saddam Hussein is a bad man, he needed to be removed. I believe that Bush thought he was doing the right thing for the Iraquis when he started the war there WMD's or no. I still think he made the right decision because if the objective is to stamp out terrorism, working on one country isn't going to get the job done and its possible more countries in the middle east are harboring terrorists. The problem is they are so mobile and the country there is so rugged. Even one terrorist can do so much damage. Anybody who says that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 is probably wrong. Look at all the terrorist bombings the last little while in Iraq. If John Kerry gets in, I think you are going to find yourself as a weaker and more vulnerable nation.

Eric,
What have you gotten in the last four years?
Until the mad cow scare (a media thing) the best cattle prices in years.
Personally my 401K was really looking good under Clintons manufactured high stock prices, but dropped like a rock before Billy left office. It is now back to a respectable level and not inflated by IOPs of dot coms that never made a cent.
My taxes are less than under Bill and company.
And every president has spent his weekends at his "retreat" Truman at Independence, Ike at Camp David, Kennedy at Cape "Camelot", etc, etc.
The national dept, we are at war. We could quit and come home, but how long would it be before more 9/11 type things happened if we did?
You want a free country you gotta fight for it.
I for one would rather fight on their homefront than on mine.
I will shut up now, but I hope you have a good day and enjoy the nice spring weather :)

Eric,

"LA, putting all the candidate bashing / harsh feelings for Kerry aside, just what has Bush done to impress you so much that you think he deserves 4 more yrs in office?"

Have you been paying attention??? We suffered an attack that was worse than Pearl Harbor. More people died, and they were civilians. It was in the heart of our national financial community. Since then we have whipped two enemy countries and a third has thrown down their weapons. May there be much more of this type of nothing happen.

"I am neither democrat/republican/liberal. and for the record, I voted for Bush in 2000, because I felt he was a much better candidate than Gore was, but what has he done the last 4 yrs to deserve my vote again?"

Be honest. You're a liberal.

"He cant run a business"

He couldn't when he was on the bottle. He did OK in baseball. Didn't put a winner up, but he made money. How, as a businessman, do you measure success if not the bottom line. He has certainly proved he can run a state and a nation.

"we are at an all time high national debt"

I don't like that either, but let's not forget that the executive office doesn't vote on spending bills, that he stepped into office in the early part of a recession, and we're fighting a war.

"he is stepping all over human / constitutional rights"

That is grossly inaccurate. In case you still haven't noticed, we are at war. No US citizen has had their human or constitutional rights taken away – unless they were aiding and abetting our enemy. If you're worried about rights for the scum in Camp X-Ray, or their ilk overseas, then once again, you're a liberal who doesn't understand war and survival. They have received much more humane treatment than the women and babies they kill and the men they torture.

"interest rates are at an all time low"

Any the problem with that is???

"unemployment is skyrocketing"

Are you talking about the United States? Unemployment his not skyrocketing. Look at the numbers. If you're talking about the 3.5MM jobs lost over the past three years to overseas outsourcing, what about the 3.4MM NEW jobs have been insoursed from foreign companies? That stat comes from our own liberal Dept. of Commerce, but you don't ever hear the libs talk about it. The new insourced jobs are higher paying than the ones were loosing. I'm not a NAFTA fan, but let's remember that NAFTA was Clinton's baby – not W's.

"he spends very little time running the country, most weekends he is off either at his ranch or at some retreat."

What a load of liberal whining crap.

"Dick Chaney, do you think what he is getting away with is ethical?"

What is he 'getting away with'?

"Do you want 4 more yrs like the last 4?"

YES YES YES

"Fill me in, am I missing something great Bush has done?"

Have you been living under a rock since he took office?

"I am not dead set against Bush, but I dont want 4 more yrs like the last 4!"

Yes you are. You are dead set against him because you are a LIBERAL. Like so many whining liberals you won't admit it. Be honest and admit you're a liberal.

"Convince me that Bush is the man to lead us out of this recession and he has my vote."

You will not be convincible until you take an honest look at the facts. Bush did not lead us into the recession. I'm not sure he can lead us out. It's probably a lot worse than they admit and it's liable to be along pull. Might get worse before it gets better. I just hope he's not another Coolidge. I think he too liberal on spending and some social issues. Bush is not perfect. But he is light years better than Kerry or anything else the liberals have to offer.

Craig-TX

Thanks Craig and rbell. You said it much better than I could and I didn't have to get all hot under the collar while trying to make a reply half as good as you did. Read eric,s posts. He's a liberal that doesn't want to admit it, so he may be able to be saved.

Eric-
Bush is trying to end recession by allowing you to keep more of your hard earned dollars. Formula looks something like this:
Raise calf
Sell calf for US Dollars
Pay Less Tax on dollars than last years dollars
Take extra dollars saved from taxes and buy equipment or more cows
If you buy equipment some guy who makes equipment hires more workers and more jobs are created.
If you buy more cows some producer makes more money to buy more equipment.
I'm no economist, but the plan looks pretty simple and alot more honest than the liberal idea of just having everyone send their money to the government and let them decide who gets what.

Everybody's situation is a bit different. But in my particular realm of finance, things are better with Bush than ever in my life. I have two occupations, cattle and citrus, both agriculture. Prices for agricultural commodities are at all time highs on these two items. Upon filing my taxes I learned that my tax bill is lower than ever before in this income bracket. With unfortunate events like 9/11 and current threats that exist, I would rather have a tough guy from Texas than a gay-anti war rights activist from WHERE? Anti Bush people- please don't make the mistake of electing that guy because you don't like Bush. Elect the candidate that is best suited for the job. Then you'll have the opportunity to elect Hillary in 4 years.

I am not sure how this economic plan of yours is working out. So I save on taxes, but now it costs me $48 to fill up my truck. Up from around $30 bucks a couple yrs ago. there goes that savings.

While you guys are getting record prices for your cattle, I am not a full time rancher, as most of us on here aren't. So now your record prices are costing me more at the grocery store. here goes that savings.

the only reason Bush made any money from the baseball team was because he convinced the citizens of Arlington to build him a new stadium. He stated he was in the baseball business for the long haul, but less than a yr after opening the stadium, he sold out. he sells team to Hicks, they instantly make playoffs for the first time in 30 yrs.

worse attack than pearl Harbor? More people died? Whoa there cowboy! While I am certainly not disrespecting the tragedy of 9/11, I am pretty sure the total casualties are much less. Just as tragic, and i am sorry for anyone who lost a loved one there, but lets put it in perspective as far as casualities go.

he is stepping on opur constitutional rights to free speech. he is allowing the FCC to fine people for what they are saying. he is dictating what we can and cant watch on tv and listen to on the radio.

Dick Chaney? You dont see anything wrong with a guy retiring from a company, getting a huge bonus check, and then that company gets the largest contract the gov't has ever issued? I just heard during lunch that Halliburton is being investigated now for over charging the gov't $300 million for our soldiers meals. Halibutron wasn't even the lowest bidder on that contract, but got the contract because of special needs, allowing them to override the bidding process.

Interest rates? Not all of us borrow money, we would like for our savings to have a decent return, withouot having to put our savings at risk in the stockmarket. I enjoyed the days when I was getting 10-12% on my c d 's.

How do you consider me a liberal? Is everyone who sees things from different perspectives a liberal?
Why is it that the only folks who call people whiners seem to whining when they do it?

Eric
When was the last time that you got 10% to 12% on your c d's?

You make some legitimate points, but what gives? What would make you happy? Anything? If beef prices bottom out, would you be happy to buy a cheaper steak? If taxes skyrocket, will you be happy to have cheaper gasoline? From what I gather, nothing makes you happy but the right to watch porn on TV, or listen to Howard Sleaze on the radio. Typical.

I just trashed some old files this week. In 1997 I had 2 cd's at 8.875 APR.

I just had a 5 yr note muture last month @ 8 1/4%. Heck, I remember getting 16% in the early 80's!

I dont have a house note, and I pay cash for my trucks, I only buy what i can afford, therefore low interest rates don't help me all that much. I have a business line of credit, but we always that offf within a few months. And while interest rates are at a all time low, why are credit card companies allowed to charge over 20%? I know that it is a free country and you are fre to not do business with them, but that seems kinda outrageous for them to charge that kind of interest rates. But I guess if you use them then its your own fault.

You kinda made my point. There is no free ride. I have no complaints about the economy, believe me I am paying my fair share of taxes. I pay more in self employment taxes in a week than most foks do in a month. I am not bragging, but I have been lucky, and along with alot of hard work, have been able to make a buck in my life and been able to put some back. So all those tax cuts we are being promised, most of them won't affect me one way or the other. I still have to match my employees FICA/Medicare taxes, pay both the employer/employee share of my own taxes, pay the unemployment taxes on each employee, and then, if I am lucky and there's any left over, I'll gladly pay the tax on the rest of it!

I've always told folks if you wanna quit paying taxes, its easy. Just dont make any money.!

And for the record, no, I dont watch porn on TV...but I'd like to know that I could if I wanted to! And yes, I do enjoy listening to Howard Stern in the morning, Sorry if I enjoy a good laugh on the way to work. the way things are heading, we have that choice much longer!

Sorry I was getting a little hot under the collar. Yeah you're right about having the option, I'm just getting sick of turning on the tube at night to enjoy a show with my family and that stuff just keeps getting forced down our throats. Every commercial for every show has to include a silouhette of a naked woman cheating on her husband with another man. Come on, we've seen it on TV enough times, why does it keep coming on over and over. That's realy what the FCC is supposed to be doing. We will have the right to say or do what we want. But that doesn't mean say or do what you want on public airways. Some people don't have the choice of turning the channel. And most of the time, that garbage has already done it's deed before you can do anything. My 2 cents.

eric, are you going to base your decision on taxation or gasoline prices? When it comes to cattle prices which are you a cowman or victim of the mean ranchers? So Bush is a bad man for selling out at a profit? Is he an evil capitalist?

You might be pretty sure about casualties, but your still wrong. Check the facts for yourself.
---Pearl Harbor: 2,395 dead – overwhelmingly military
---NYC: 2,993 dead – overwhelmingly civilian
That's the historical and factual perspective.

Bush is NOT stepping on your constitutional rights to free speech. For crying out loud, you've bought into the liberal mantra. Do you really believe the founding fathers wrote the First Amendment to protect those who want to publish vulgarity? Come on, you're smarter than that. Stop and think. The FCC is fining companies for putting obscene trash on the public airwaves. Only in the past 45 years (since the libs took over the press, the educational system, and the government) is this considered an abridgement on freedom of speech. Nobody is stopping you from getting your smut. It's just that in the name of old fashioned decency we would prefer that you don't demand that it be available everywhere, all the time, where kids and decent people have to intentionally avoid it during the course of a normal life.

Dick Chaney would be where Martha Stewart is if he was dirty. The libs would already have him behind bars if there was anything to it. It would be another Watergate. What company would you like to see rebuild all of Iraq's oil fields and pipelines, water systems, roads & bridges, power grids, and the rest of its infrastructure? Would you prefer Walmart? McDonalds? Sears?

OK, so your way to fix the economy is to raise interest rates. Enough said.

You ask how I consider you a liberal? It's because you blame, blame, blame and you whine, whine, whine. And you act like a victim. And you get mad at people who stand up for America and don't take crap off foreign countries. Conservatives don't whine. They might get mad as h--- and they might take your head off if you threaten their freedom, their family, their stuff, their country – because they take ownership in their life. They know nothing worth anything comes free and some things are worth fighting for. But they don't whine.

None of us agree on everything. But when general lines are drawn some will fall on the liberal side and some on the conservative. It's not a question of seeing things from different perspectives. It's more about right and wrong, good and evil, laziness and responsibility, cowardice and honor.

Come on eric. You're not stopping to think. You make too much sense on other subjects to be this illogical. Think about what would happen if you applied liberal policies to you business or your cattle operation. Eric, you're better than that.

Craig-TX

Craig. it's been fun sparing with you and D R. But this is my last post on politics, as I can tell that Macon is getting uncomfortable with these posts, and frankly, so am I. Some of these posts are getting personal, and I don't know anyone on this forum well enough to attack them personally, and I know noone knows me well enough! I appreciate all the hard work Macon does for us, and the last thing I want to do is make his job any harder by worrying what I am gonna say next. This is my favorite forum (the whole cattle board, not the coffee shop in particular) and I dont want to ever be banned from posting on it as I have sooooo much to learn about cattle! Good luck in November, and may the best man win, as is usually the case!

Macon, sorry if I ever made you uncomfortable with any of my posts!

Eric,

I couldn't have said it better myself!

Let's express our opinions about potilitics, breeds of cattle or whatever. But respect other people's right to have a different view.
