it's one thing to oppose the war in iraq but another to turn your back on your country. in my opinion that is exactly what is taking place when these public figures (or anyone for that matter) refuse to stand for the pledge or the national anthem.

worse still, is any news source giving him coverage.

i agree w/C&C.....send him to iraq & see how much he can make playing baseball over there. he's also lucky that fans are willing to pay to see the rest of his teammates. if it was an individual sport, he'd probably be changing his tune when no one was paying to see him play anymore. kind of like the dixie chicks.......they may still be opposed to the war, but you sure don't hear natalie mouthing off about it anymore.

I agree with txag.
The democraps don't even deserve to have to have the first letter of their party be in upper case.. The democraps, many years ago stood what the Repiublicans stand for today. Abe Lincoln is the President responsible for freeing the slaves. He was a Republican. Now everyone seems to think that he was a democrap. WRONG!!!!!!!!
The democraps are nothing but a SOCIALIST PARTY. Ready to take what the working man makes and give it to someone else that doesn't want to work.

GP, I'm curious if you consider this intellectual to be worthy of making your Heroes List, or are you merely trying to point out that you share common values founded in idiocy?

Sorry, I didn't read the piece, as you can probably tell. I don't do Yahoo, now that I know what an important part of your life it is. Its a personal thing aimed at you that keeps me from doing Yahoo. Is that smart or what?

I use Yahoo as my main page (first page I see when I come online) because I have an Yahoo email account (and their website is very resourceful) I know Yahoo is a corny name but I didn't invent the websites. Yahoo get their news sources from AP and Reuters and independent sources....they are not lopsided on certain issues....they report the most popular news of the day.. CNN, FOX News, BBC and other news sources rely on AP and Reuters too... remember AP and Reuters hires freelance writers/reporters therefore they are on neutral ground. I think this is why you are upset with the popular news sources because it don't report the news you wanna hear! You wanna hear the conservative-republican side only news sources! Why are afraid of the popular reports? What are you hiding from? I would love to hear your philosopical views on this!

I love baseball but I pay no heed to all the ball grabbing (well those pants are on pretty tight so can't blame those gusy for feeling a bit uncomfortable...you try wearing baseball uniform!) I don't pay attention to the spitting either. I like to watch the game itself and nothing else...does that make me a queer? No I am straight guy and have been a straight guy all my life! I will forever be a straight guy! I am sure you like baseball, football or whichever sports you like...Don't call me a fag again because I am not one! In HS, a kid said that in my face once, and I gave him a black eye....he never said the word again.

just because these ***** get paid millions of dollars we are supposed to give a damn what they think? i sure dont. then idiots start believing what they say just because someone famous said it. its like all those rock and punk bands "hey, we hate bush, you should too because were rich and famous and have no idea what were talking about"

I don't know if you are trying to threaten me, but it does make me feel somewhat uneasy. Anyway, I have never called you that, so it would be difficult for me to call you that again. Please rest assured that I could care less who, or what, you date.

I do find it somewhat strange that you feel like you can get by with using words relating to a person's sexual preferences that straight people are frowned upon for using. Is this similar to it being okay for Blacks to use the N word?

Regarding your last statement, is it possible that there is some reason to explain why the other kids were "mistaken" about your preferences, even when you were in high school?

Once again, I don't care who you do! I do know that this forum is not an appropriate place for a private conversation between the two of us. If you have further threats or insight for me, please PM me.

"I am not pro-war; I'm anti-war," he said. "I'm for peace."

I personally don't think that anyone is pro-war. This guy sounds like some kind of simple minded socialist. To say that you are anti-war means that you would would rather risk living under a terrorist regime then fight for your freedom. I, as well as most western Canadians, am disappointed with the Canadian government's stand on Iraq. Our military is very under equipped but the least we could have done was lend some manpower to the Iraq war. This is a battle that needs to be fought and better in the Middle East than in North America, which I believe is the alternative. I can't think that somebody who is making millions of dollars a year can have much of a grip on the common man's reality, anyway.

U started it with all the crotch grabbing is that your preference crap....thats the same thing as calling me a fag. I didn't call gay people "fags" It was an indirect remarks of myself.. BTW, I hear black people use the N word to each other, even in their horrid music. But when some white guy said it, its a major hate crime!

Eh, that kid in HS was going around targeting different people and call them "fag" at random...u wouldn't believe how many times he has been in trouble, suspended, and finally got expelled from school permanently. Last I heard, he is enjoying his days in jail.

GP, maybe you could clarify this one for us. Or for me, at least. I'm probably the only one that can't keep up with the rest of the class, 'cause this one sure sailed right over my head.

Yes Yahoo, is lopsided in their News reporting,

What poo

And why for God's sake does anyone give a flip what an actor or sports figure has to say on world events,

they are likend to the animals in the zoo, for our entertainment, and they are about that educated, the ones out there who do hold degrees are not bashing our President or the war effort, they are just keeping quiet so they don't hurt their carreers by being black listed by the commy pricks that run Hollywood

My husband has the right idea, don't buy or support their movies or BS, cut the money off and the little worms die off.

Actors are lucky to have graduated high school, the ones who have gone on to become educated have mostly attended liberal universities where the profs brain wash them with all their pot head ideas they learned in the 60's, thus you get Hitlery and Bill

Once again an over paid - genetically blessed athlete expresses his political in-site. I wonder what his qualifications are?

He can hit a ball / catch a ball / throw a ball? Oh, don't forget he can run around the bases!

He also has to take his pants off to sit on the toilet - like every dammn person I have met to date.

Hmm ....

I suppose we should all bow to the man who is blessed to have adoring fans throw their money at him.

I have a couple of very, very good friends in that warm and sandy part of the world - and I worry about them a lot. Neither one of them has EVER bad mouthed the government of the U.S. of A. - and they darned sure would never shake the hand of a man like our ball player / political expert.

I suspect our well spoken - politically astute athlete has converted others besides GP.

I wonder what that says about not only the athlete, but the convert?

Cheers

Bez

That ballplayer did not convert me into anything....he has right to his opinion why do you hate it so much?

Speaking of baseball, guess who showed up tonight Yankees-Red Sox (good game, wild series!)? He is your best friend; he is married to Theresa Heinz (makes me wonder why he didn't go to the Pittsburgh game today?) Give up? John "I am an Idiot" or "Honey, can I borrow a couple Million dollars?" Kerry! !!!!

you are stuffed more full of crap than a Thanksgiving or Christmas Turkey, but as liberal as you are you probaly quit believing in Christmas as a 19 yr old when you realized there wasn't a free lunch from Santa Claus. Who told you??? Your little 6 yr old sister or little 8 yr old brother.

i don't think anyone hates his right to his opinion. why do you put so much stock in it?

other celebs are in favor of our pres & the war on terrorism. you mentioned that you listen to country music. toby keith is very vocal about his support. is his opinion less important than a baseball player's?

Yes I heard Toby Keith's song but it is nothing about Iraq war it is about WAR ON TERRORISM! I like the song very much!
