ET cost?

Help Support CattleToday:

we did it quite a few years ago....flushed our two best cows and put embryos in good commercial cows....

to the best of my memory and this was at least ten years ago .....I spent nearly two grand on drugs and et vet...

this was my second foray as two years previous I bought embryos and put them in our cows....

determined that my money was better spent on trying to AI every good registered cow we had....got more consistent results.

The more local the specialist the cheaper if they are skilled. Know the ability of the Vet or tech or don't do it.

Not sure about the cost of the flush...check with Gizmom on that. I pay $60 for implanting embryos plus mileage. Add Lutalyse, CIDRs, Cystorelin, Estrotect patches etc. to that. You also want to inject with MultiMin as well. Your recips need to be in good body condition and gaining weight. The higher the body condition score the better. This has not been a great summer to implant embryos in Florida because of the miserable heat. Maybe it's better where you are.

We pay 175 for the flush, we do all the setup and breeding, that costs about 170 depending on the amount of fsh needed, then its 35 per egg to freeze or 50 to put them in fresh so if your recipes are ready to go you can save the 35 freeze fee. Cost per egg will vary a lot depending on the number of eggs. If you put them in fresh you can use #2s which will be even more cost effective. Recipes will cost around 16 to set up.
It can be a very good thing or a bad thing.
