I have a shallow hollow on my property that is currently filled with small trees and undergrowth. The water runs through there pretty good during thunderstorms. What I'd like to do is cut the bulk of the underbrush and trees out and get a good stand of orchard grass or something like it growing to control the erosion while providing a little more grass for the cattle. Is orchard grass the best choice here? What's the best way to kill the poison ivy and the small dogwood trees without killing the existing orchard grass already in there?

Thanks

reed canary would be the best choice for a waterway. my son has the same problems. he is putting a tile in the bottom to take some of the water. brushkiller or some other 2 4 d mixture
