Equipment Leasing, and TMRs ?

You see some of the bigger outfits running all new green equipment. I am told that most of it is leased. What economics or tax issues drive this? I assume folks are putting their capitial in areas that appreciate rather than depreciate?

Also - - I am considering leasing a TMR for a feeding experiment that may or may not work long term. Any comments on doing this vs. shopping around for a used unit?

Section 179 deductions have been a big reason for leasing equipment, but it doesn't work for everyone. As Dun said, seek advice from your acct/CPA.

I purchased all my green instead of leasing The only thing I lease are backhoes currently. My cousin leased his new john deere cotton combine that bales the cotton into huge rolls.
