The 0 Angus BW EPD is the average of all calf birth weights reported to the Angus Association in the year they selected as the EPD base year. I think that was 1979. In 1979 the average Angus bull calf weighed 73 lbs at birth, the average heifer was 68 lbs. But EPDs will NEVER, EVER tell you what a calf will weigh. That's not what they do.
