We usually vaccinate right before weaning. Last fall was really wet and we had lung issues with two light calves.

The label always says to re vaccinate at 6 months, if the calf is less than 6 months when first vaccinated. Might be better just to treat one or two...

How much good do you do when vaccinating 3 to 4 month old calves?

we give 1st round of shots at 5 months (average age of calf), brand, band, tattoo, dehorn, the works -- then put them back out with momma

boost 4-6 weeks later (which also is the same day as weaning day)... we find it's the least amount of stress on the little buggers.

...but we use a modified live vaccine program.

...any animals retained in the herd will then receive yearly booster shots.
