Dull calf

I have a 350 pound heifer that appears foamy around the mouth, seems dull and stays away from the herd. I find her lying down alot. No signs of bloat, scours or bloody discharge. My suspicion centers around a gut problem. Any suggestions or recommendations.

Sounds like she is in pain. Do you see any sign of her grinding her teeth or kicking her bellie. When she walks does she "hump" up in the back. This is a sign or hardware. (metal object in her stomach) Usually, they will also run a low-grade fever - about 103. If you suspect hardware, you need to give her a cow magnet (using a bolus gun). I would call my vet & describe her condition (get her temp first). Jeanne
