This little visitor was perched on top of the barn a few mornings ago...I thought it was a decoy one of my brothers had put up until I saw it move...boy was I surprised! :)
I was curios to see if anybody knew what kind it is??

Looks like a white mallard crossed with a wild mallard but the coloration around the eyes looks a little different. I've seen this cross and they can fly but they sure don't eat well.

Yep, it is a Muscovy. They are a domestic breed, but are NOT related to the Mallard. They come originally from South America. I have a whole flock of them. They are pretty quiet.

Female Muscovy--the males can't fly,but the females will migrate, and cross with wild ducks-but the ofspring are "mules"

The males we had could sure fly!

Thanks for helping us figure out what kind it was folks! Not sure if it was a male or female, but I made a loud noise 'cause I wanted to see it fly, and it flew thats for sure.
