Since I just joined the group decided to be brave and post a couple pictures for your comments. We were very fortunate at the Dual Milking Shorthorn show in Kansas. The Show was two weeks ago. Our herd Nile Valley received three out of four Champions.

Next is our Junior and Reserve Champion Females.

We have bred our cattle to be both dairy and beef. Dual Purpose thus type of cattle that can go either direction.

The above are picture of dual purpose Milking Shorthorn. You can beef them and/or milk them. Thus Dual.

You have asked about milk production on our Nile Valley dual Milking Shorthorns. Our herd has been dairy since early 1900's. We were on DHIA test for 40 years. Herd average about 14,500 M 575 F in 1997 when went cow/calf. Our family has always felt we didn't want to breed meatless wonders. Had several cows over 20,000# M but higher production less fat.
Yes, we sometimes have 2-3 calves on some cows. But normally the cows will regulate to one calf meaning great weaning weights.

Link to herd sire page. info about Alexander the Great-P, 3/4 sister in dairy as 2 year old has had 3 tests of 55# per day. In our opinion More Milk makes More Meat.
