Drink of choice?

Help Support CattleToday:

Stepson and his wife were just down for a quick visit. He drinks a few cups of coffee in the morning and then nothing but regular Pepsi and a few beers at night. His wife said he doesn't drink water. As in, at all. How is that possible? I can't imagine what his kidneys and teeth look like. And yet he's still thin, so there's that. But still . . . . .

I knew a couple of Asian kids back in the day that drank nothing except soda pop, and the younger one developed kidney problems and went to the hospital... which led to them finding out that the older kid also had problems.
And it's pretty well established that sugarless soda is worse for weight gain than regular soda.

My wifes cousin and her husband drink nothing but Pepsi. I'm not exaggerating when I say they each drink a case a day and have for the last 28 yrs that I've known them. It's the first thing on they're grocery list every friday. She has allot of joint issues but he's 7 yrs older than her and has no issues. A couple months ago we were talking about retirement and he said he's working until age 72, thinking he's 63 now. Blows my mind because I quit sodas over 10 years ago because of joint issues. I can't imagine the cost much less how I'd feel drinking 24 sodas a day. They rarely drink alcohol though.

Had a good couple of years where all I drank was black coffee, iced tea (any flavor including sweet, homemade or factory), and beer. Maybe a gulp from a water fountain if we were out in public somewhere (once or twice a year?), but that was the extent of it. Office jobs, youth, and inactivity allow for a good measure of dehydration. No known ill effects so far, but have added more water in since. Back in my teenage years though, a gallon of tea a day was the norm out in the fields and throwing hay.

Yep,. and they cause excruciating cramps as well. I never had leg cramps til I found out I had Type II, ( 2005) and i started drinking tea sweetened with artificial sweeteners, Coke Zero, etc. Once I learned that and quit using any kind of artificial sweeteners, I quit having them. I drink black coffee and water., and PBR when I am off somewhere that I won't be driving.
