Understand how ya feel. We are currently going through this with our donkey. He has been great with the cows and calves until he was in the field with a cow who had a calf Sunday morning. He had bitten it on the head and face several times and then my dad caught him dragging the little bull calf (about 70lbs) by the leg and just making a wild noise.
Got them separated now and he is upset that he is away from the other cows but, do not feel like I can trust him any more. He can see the new calves through the fence right now and has not shown any more aggression even when they are close to the fence. It has broken my daughters heart to realize we have to get rid of him.
