Been watching the pets lately and I think I've come to a conclusion. Seems the cats lay around all day and expect you to come to them and groom them, feed them, change their litter box etc etc. All this pampering seems to be giving the cats the impression they are god-like beings as they have grown to expect this treatment. The dogs, on the other hand, seem to watch us in wonder as we perform these miraculous things and I think they get the impression that We are god-like and try ever so hard to please us. (yep, I'm bored)

You've definitely pegged the cats. AND, for that matter, the dogs.

Yeah, you've got some time on your hands.

Lay down an die with your dog and the dog will guard your corpse.
Die with your cat and the cat will get fat.
The Dog, man's best friend.

That reminds me of this joke. I always found it funny :)

The Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little
dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other
inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry
nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations
perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in
order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of
escape.

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on
the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless
body at their feet.

I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts,
since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities.
However, they merely made condescending comments about
what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices
tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the
duration of the event. However, I could hear the
noises and smell the food. I overheard that my
confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I
must learn what this means, and how to use it to my
advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to
assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his
feet as he was walking. I must try this again
tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are
flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly
released, and seems to be more than willing to return.
He is obviously retarded.
The bird must be an informant. I observe him
communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain
that he reports my every move. My captors have
arranged protective custody for him in an elevated
cell, so he is safe. For now.....

Our local Fire Dept had a picture of 23 cats with a corpse, some had their heads sticking out of the rib cage. One of the most awful sites i have ever seen.
That's no joke.

It's really pretty simple, folks. Cats are Democrats.......Dogs are Republicans.

Not my little avatar!

I read the "Cats Diary" to my brother, and got the first real laughter from him sense he lost the other part of his leg..He's stuck in a nurseing home/rehab center for the forseeable future..Says it's a nice one,and has 2 dogs and some birds to make it seem more homelike..anyhow thanks for the funny.....

It's kinda interesting to me why cats are such popular pets?

Cat people, what is it you like about your cat?

BL has a house cat, She likes the way it curls up on her lap and purrs.

What more of a reason do you need than the one your wife (in her infinite wisdom  ), has already given you? There is something to be said for the feedback a cat provides, it is not obnoxious or over done. It is still, and content. Relaxing and warm. See?

I just know I'm opening myself up for untold grief here, but give me a cat over a dog anyday. I've only had one dog in my life that I've ever cared for, the rest were just dogs. Dogs are too needy. If we're gone for a week or so as long as the cats have something to eat and somewhere to crap everybody's happy. Try that with a dog.

Like my vet says, Jo:

Dogs have owners and cats have staff.

Whether that means anything to any of you is up for you to decide.

Oh so very true.

But I think dogs want to be too needy. Because hey, as man's best friend, there's no better place they'd rather be than right by their owner's side 24/7.

I'll tell ya what I like about cats. At least our cat. She's black, so are THE dogs. Ya know? all that black hair in the house. I blame it on THE cat. :cowboy:

I thought about it,why DO I have 3 cats? Then I woke up from a bad nightmare and Lucy was curled up aganist my chest, purring~ I knew it was just a dream,it had not really happened. So a ground to reality is one reason. Haveing something else breathing in the house is another,I'm not compleatly alone. If I'm upset, they gather around, offering a head or a belly to rub.. 2 of them have a fit if I go sit on the porch, meowing at the door or window as there is a poodle puppy and a chihuahua out there and they might chase me up a tree, and I couldn't get down..I love dogs, but right now I couldn't take care of one right,so that's a dream for the future.. As long as the litterbox is clean and there's food to eat they don't worry if I'm gone for a while.
