My father recently passed away and he always sexed the newborns. Yesterday I had a hereford born, looked to see what it was and found testicles and 4 teats. Its not like I havent been around cows for many years, I've just never looked that close and I feel like an idiot.

If it has testicles it's a bull. As in all mammals, the males have small (normally) non-functional teats. Also, under the tail there will be only one hole.

It can be pretty hard to tell on a newborn, especially if the mom is goosey and won't let you get too close.
