Cherokee is in the Carolinas , Creek nation ran to gulf coast and Seminole from there South

Trail of Tears forced the removal of most of the remaining Cherokee nation to Oklahoma.

As well as other nations also. The land here was confiscated and the creek freeman and others were sent to ok also. My gggggrandfather established the first christanc Church on the reservation

Same here....and seems they're always Cherokee.

Cherokee would make sense in the South, largest surviving tribe in the usa and a large reservation in Oklahoma.

My cousin (by marriage) is an Ojibwa (aka Chippewa) and a Casino tribal member.
She's big into Native American culture, I got a kick out of it when she told me the Lakota (aka Sioux) disparagingly
refer to the Ojibwa as rabbit chokers.... so I now teasingly greet her with.... Hi Rabbit Choker.

Which tribe is your local tribe and who is it that is referring to them as what?

I can't remember what she said the Ojibwa refer to the Lakota as when an Ojibwa wants to insult the Lakota.
I thought the insults amusing and a bit surprised they still view tribal distinction when to average American an Indian
is an Indian. Few if any of them have anything good to say about their history in dealing with the federal government.
From my experience some of the meanest men I've ever met were Lakota when they were drunk. Firewater really changes their personalities.

Yes, I am one of those, I did my family tree into the 1800's. I have some Cherokee, not much, lots of German. But if someone wants my DNA they will have to follow me around and pull my spit cup out of the trash or get a court order. Just like encouraging the kids at Elementary school to get the finger prints done by the police. My Mom didnt even trust enough to let me do that.

We went to the Indian culture center in Sulphur Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Indians had their history according to a lecturer a Cherokee chief had twin sons and the tribe was divided into two tribes by the chief. One became the Chickasaw and the other the Cherokee.

Wife's great grandmothers was on the trail of tears, she has the original land grant paper work from Oklahoma.
