Digital Phone service

High speed internet is here thru the cable company. My neighbor signed up for something called voice over internet phone (voip). Telephone is routed thru the high speed internet and is supposed to be alot cheaper.

Anyone use this? How is it?

Don't own one myself but two of my friends have had them and neither one liked them. Apparently they weren't all that dependable.

I've had it with PrairieWave Communications with no problems.

I had it with Charter Communications and the service was spotty. My lines were obviously old, but I was in what they considered an isolated area and I was told it was scheduled for upgrade in 3 years.
