It is really all a matter of opinion, I think it is best to rmove the buds when the calf is two or three months old, but other people say that time is too stressful for the calf anyway, so they wait until weaning, as if it isn't hard enough on the calf.

> isn't hard enough on the calf. I AGREE WITH DUNMOVIN BUT SOME OF US DONT ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE. I PERSONALLY LIKE TO USE THE PASTE AND DO IT WHEN THEY ARE TWO TO THREE WEEKS OLD. THEY ARE EASIER TO HANDLE AND THE ONLY STRESS IS KEEPING THEM SEPERATED SIX HOURS

I have been through the de-horning process with Limousins, Brahmans and Herfords. There is no GOOD time to do it. I have finally went to a pure bred Angus bull........problem solved!
