Trying to finish up selections on the 2023 Maternal Gems consignments. We usually take several cow calf pairs and a group of heifers. I hope they aren't judged on the quality of the freeze brands lol. The bulls all turned out just great the heifers were hit and miss. Exact same method and people on both groups but on different days. Bulls it was a cool calm day. Heifers a cool but very windy day I'm thinking wind was an issue. trying To pick is always one of the hardest jobs I have, I want to take top end but heck I want to keep them as well. The group was AI'd on the 14th of December then exposed to the young bull in the photo.11C0BFE3-BF70-4AE3-B6D3-6372E581A824.jpeg4465D246-20A4-4A5F-86FE-19FEEEFE8030.jpeg

Why the odd brown one in the background of the first photo, it seems out of place with the bunch.

That's a jersey that is going to be the replacement to her momma to be a nurse cow. Best investment we made was getting a nurse cow.

A better shot of Buttercup, we keep a Jersey nurse cow and AI her every year with sexed heifer semen the plan is to use Buttercup as Bessie's replacement old Bessie is getting some age on her. This year she is raising three none ours but a friend had a twin year so she is toting some of the load for him.

Nice set of heifers. Regardless of which one you select someone will get a productive addition to their herd.
