Dead Yearlings

I have been watching over 700 yearling steers and have a few questions. My husband usually does this but is out of town. I have lost three over the past three days. The last one I found had red foam coming out of the nostrils. We also lost another one last week that was bleeding from the rectum. My husband has a vet friend who is excellent with cattle but has been out of town.

For my own information I would like any thoughts on the above. Several weeks ago we found two dead that looked healthy--lightening was the suspect on those.

I would just like to learn all I can about taking care of these cattle. So any thoughts are appreciated.

Given the cost of loosing calves, I would call a vet and have things checked out.
