Saddest sight on our way home this morning-cow in a pasture, standing but may have been in the beginning phases of calving. 30 stinking black-headed buzzards standing in front of her watching and waiting... too many other cows with calves in the field to safely go out there, open pasture with no house to knock on nearby. Hate those dang birds.

We have that problem here. The other day a cow had twins and took off with one of them and the other stayed where it was laying down. Within just a few minutes there were 5 of them sumbitches on fence post by the calf. Them mexcan buzzards ain't to scared, but we were able to chase them off and get both calves in mama in the barn.

Hpacres what area of the country do you live in?

Central Texas. Haven't seen any by our place, where the neighbor has ACTUAL dead cows. This pasture was closer to a river bottom area-have hogs down there too. By air or land, no end to challenges
