I know that some times it is hard to find time to garden, or rather WEED the garden, so a few years ago I started using a fabric specificly for gardens and flower beds. It can be a little expensive but it is well worth it. It can be used year after year and it keeps the ground moist during dry season with just a light watering. You can get it at sam's in a big roll.
To keep out the bunnies I use two foot chicken wire with the red electric fence post. The rabbits stay out, which is the biggest threat and if you hangs things off the post it keeps out the other wildlife like dear. Hair doesn't work because if it gets wet the scent goes away and you have to redo. You can also help with this by staking your dogs around it. It slows it down alot. Rarely do we get one in ours and when caught, OH WELL!
